Borrowing Brilliance

Borrowing Brilliance

“Borrowing Brilliance” from Dave Murray is based on one simple idea. Basically, everything that we do or think happens because we see others do or think the same. During our lives of course we may do something different from the others but it is almost always a slight variation from the original. Of course, the book focuses mainly on the business life but its basic concept is pretty clear.

We talk because others do it; play games because the others taught us, we even go on living because we see others do it. So, basically there is no original idea.

In relation to business life, the concept is even clearer. To succeed we need to innovate, and to innovate we need to borrow ideas from other fields and to apply them in our own field. One perfect example of this is financial innovations. It is basically the same concept that is transmuted into different forms. This is especially true for options where there exist a lot of kinds like: European options, American, Bermudan, Barrier, Exotic or Vanilla options.

  1. Indrit, in my opinion we don't do things because the others do so. We Talk, laugh, play etc becouse it is essential for our being. I totally agree that innovation needs to borrow ideas and to develop them.

  2. Indrit I appreciate your critical point of you in general but this time it seemed to me to strong about this book.Perhaps it was not interesting for you but in the moment that you will realize that something you will borrowed from the others will helped you in your life or job and you will be able to improve that I'm sure you will be very graceful.

i strongly suggest that we must re define the word ``original``
