Sonja Ljubomirsky tells us in this book that the happiness of a person is
50% genetic + 40% intentional activities + 10% life circumstamces.
Can this be true? Well she argues very well. We always take positive things for granted, but focus on the more troublesome aspects of life. Always tend to see things our way when the person him self is the centre of universe. One of the best arguments are the identical twins which when being tested they score almost the same level of happiness. I think happiness is all about knowing how to be happi in the principal and it has a very strong relationship with desire. According to Sonja and her arguments things such marriage , or the right person in your life or even further different deseases are only the 10% of the effect on the happiness of ones life. She defines a lot of characteristics about happy people which I think some of them can be discussed but in general the happy people spend more time to their family , cope beter in crisis times, always have optimistic outview of the future, and they express gratitude to what they already have. The later is some religious approach I think because as we know expressing gratitude to what you have is the one of the basic rules of all religions.
Although the 50% genetic part makes as scary about happiness we have 40%+10% on our hand that if used in right manner would bring good results. And at least 50% genetic doesn t certainly main 0 indeed. It is only uncontrolled by us.
