The How of Happiness

“Happiness is the meaning and the purpose of life, the whole aim and end of human existence.” This is what Aristotle would say more than 23 centuries ago showing that the ultimate goal of mankind throughout history has been and still it is the pursuit of happiness. All of us want to be happy whether our dreams are about professional success, spiritual fulfillment, a sense of connection, a purpose in life, or love, we desire those things because ultimately we believe that they will make us happier. Yet few of us truly appreciate just how much we can improve our happiness or know precisely how to go about doing it. While going through “The How of Happiness” written by Sonja Lyubomirsky I learned some very interesting clues about happiness. She clearly demonstrates that we have a lot in our hands to do with how happy we are in life, 40% to be exact. All the happiness myths she detailed in the book gave me a life lecture that happiness cannot be found but you have to work to build it up. The 12 activities that she lists to become happier in life are very interesting and she goes in details for each activity thus giving us the opportunity to easily find which activity is suitable for us and which not. Aristotle also says that “Different men seek after happiness in different ways and by different means and so make for themselves different modes of life ....thus I encourage you all to carefully read the book and pay attention to the stories in it in order to find the proper mode to pursue happiness in life…
