The time paradox,
First, I would like to mention that this was one my favorite books during this course. As, its main focus is the most important man’s treasure-the time. It was a very valuable way to show how our individual perspective of time affect our work, health and well being.
I think we should bear in mind that time has certain characteristics, among which are :
1. Time passes quickly
2. Time that passes can never return, nor can it be compensated, for time is irretrievable
3. The more we remind ourselves of the responsibility of the present the better we get at living the moment and the better we live the present moment the better the consequence for the future.
According this book, people tend to develop and over use a particular time perspective. Time perspective- there are 6 main zones people live in two focus in the past , two focus in the present and two focus in the future.
· Past- negative – focus only on regret
· Past- positive – remember all the goods all time
· Present- fatalist- it doesn’t pay to plan , as my life is fatted, by poverty, by religion, the conditions that I living under
· Present- hedonistic- live for pleasure and avoid pain, who seek knowledge, seek sensation
· Future oriented – they have learned to work rather than play, to resist temptation. To be future oriented you have to trust , that when you make a decision about the future it is going to be carried out.
· Transcendental- future- life begins after the death of the mortal body
Future – oriented people tend to be more successful professionally and academically, to eat well, to exercise regularly, to schedule preventive doctor’s exams. Future- oriented people are the most likely to be successful and the least likely to help others in need. Ironically, the people who are the best able to help are the least likely to do so. Present- oriented people are less likely to be successful but are more likely to help others. Ironically, individuals who are the most likely to help others are the least likely to help themselves.
This way, I think this books gives helpful advice about the best use if time. I would like to underline one of them : The present is the best time to start investing. In fact this one reminds me also quotation :”Yesterday is history, tomorrow a mystery, today is a gift that’s why it called a present”.
I, also found , a very interesting point of view regarding time : the pace of time. It was very interesting to read regarding different cultures' pace of life. And, that was a very good incentive to try to improve my pace of time.
I would end by saying “ we are born in time, live in time and die in time; time is the ambit within which we operate. What we do with time is what we do with our lives''.
One of the most interesting things of this book for me as well was the viewpoint regarding the pace of time. Apart from the different pace in different countries and societies there is a different pace in the different phases of life. I remember very well that when I was in school life was much slower and I felt that time went by really slowly. After starting work it’s completely the opposite. I don’t know how four years have passed since I started work.
YanıtlaSilIt is a wonderful analysis of the content of the book and especially of time in a compact manner. You have divided the categories of using and wasting time in the proper way. The selection of citations is also well found and I would like to share the same opinion with you that it is one of the best books of the course.
YanıtlaSilVery good review of the book Ajkuna. I wanted to add one minor thing about the future oriented. They being prone to coronary diseases and living shorter than the normal lifespan. It is really a pity that the future oriented do not help as much as they could.

The book is very interesting, so that we could take a lot of information about how we can measure time, how we look at time and how we can get help Understanding the role of time in investment can lead to wiser decisions when one person wants to plan for the future, but this does not mean that these book tell us how to manage our decision only in money aspect but it talks about how people can manage time in order to spend it in effective way and not to be a time pressed person but making time work for us because time plays an important. role in everybody’s happiness.Your last phrase "What we do with time is what we do with our lives" is itself an advice that we must be very careful in every step of our life's journey during the time passing so fast...
