Time is a strange valuable potential resource. I say potential because if it is wasted, and we got only one chance of using it right, can not be brought back. This book has introduced a genuine concept that I really liked, the time pace.
The most civilized countries have the fastest pace of life. The author argues that these have objectives far cleaner and are most likely to succeed. So It looks like the most civilized countries have reached high standarts of living by valuing their time generation after generation. That made them successful.
That is also the story of the good samaritarian in the book which describes that the people with slow pace of time are the most likely to help others, while the people with fast pace of life are unlikely to help and less altruistic. He is right as focusing to much on own life make people materialistic, and uncaring about others. This is what the author calls time paradox, that the people that have slow pace of life, use their time to help others even if they can not help themselves, and the vice-versa for those that have fast pace of life.
There is a story about a king who put a big stone in the middle of the street and hided to see what his folk were made of, to valutate the values of his people. There passed a caravan and the dodged the stone indiferently and passed away. There came some merchants and they not only did not remove the stone but yelled at the king and his servents for not keeping the roads clean. At last there came a poor man who was carrying a very big burden. He saw the stone and thought that it may upset the travellers. So he put his burden apart and rolled the stone away. Under the stone he found a tresure put by the king as a reward for the good action.
Moral of the story: Every barrier that we find ahead in life is a way to improve our life.
I also liked the book, it makes you look the things from a different perspective. And your story about the king, is a nice one.
YanıtlaSilReally interesting story - we can learn from it.Sometimes we lose because we make wrong decisions caused from the lack of time. If we don't focus in the time perception but in the objectives and what is more important we will continue to do mistakes.
