in fact peer pressure at most of time it is the secret key to achievements , and for new ideas , some time when we discusses the with my kids , i use some words that they didn't understand or they couldn't be active with it , so
i'm using this effect (the positive peer of pressure ) , through thier friends to arrive to our goals to educate them in the right way

also we can't forget the Arab spring , it is started to collect adolescents through facebook and youtube
they encouraged each other to start a new kind of revolution in arab countries
they exchange there thinking and minds , there experince , and they found the respect from all levels of populations

also one big hospital in my country was built by one idea from some youth , it is the first hospital in the arab region for cancer for children called -57357- and later most of people , businessmen ,others donated for this hospital

in fact there are a bad uses for peer pressure , i understand
but we can see the peer pressure like every thing is depend from using

so we can use it in our homes , schools, clubs

  1. On my opinion, the examples used in your post are all original and fit in a very natural way with the topic of the book. The great social movements are inspired by peer pressure. And , if it is managed in the right way, very positive changes,(such the hospital you mentioned) can be done in a society. We need our friend evaluation to feel better or worse, we need each other sustain to get rid of a difficulty or to achieve a success.
It seems like in our days, because of technology people forget their normal contact to have virtual ones,...but reading you example of the impact of social network in Arab spring, i guess that if technology is used properly can be a tool to help the real peer pressure

  2. You are right Karam Aly. in a previous blog from Eduina, she took the Arab Spring revolution as a non peer pressure case and i strongly disagree with her. A very interesting book by the way.
